My final project for Safety and Sanitation class is a science experiment. I love science! Even if most of it goes over my head. But I was happy to find an experiment I could understand and order some petri dishes off Amazon that were clearly intended for grade school students.
The experiment is simple: I will track bacterial growth on cooked chicken left at room temperature for different times (from 1 hour all the way up to 6 hours), with one piece of chicken swabbed right after cooking and another immediately placed in the fridge after cooking (i.e. stored correctly).
How will the bacterial growth differ between the pieces of chicken? Let’s find out!
And yes, I had to keep my experiment in a cold oven because it was the easiest way to keep Nova and Triton from thinking they were going to be scientists, too. They were quite upset I cooked all that chicken and then didn’t give them any.
