Dan’s Good Mythical Birthday Party

My husband’s 39th birthday was celebrated in style. Good Mythical Morning style! Using the GMM party pack and plenty of whimsy, I created a wonderful backdrop for the party.

For his birthday, Dan wanted to send encouraging letters to transpeople via Point of Pride. I pulled out all my markers, pens, cards, and stickers so everyone could create beautiful, uplifting cards for people across the country.

Appetizers were a blind taste test where I took items from an international food store out of their packaging and put it into separate dishes with a small hint on the inside. A very small hint. Let’s not kid ourselves, I ran out of ideas and the hint idea went way off the rails. It was still a great time!

And yes, I included a cheat sheet for those who had no idea what “Mysterious Fishy Fella” meant.

Also, I got Dan a crown and a sash to celebrate his big day and he could not have enjoyed it more. We made sure to save both for the next time we celebrate him.

The birthday meal was a Mexican feast! With grilled skirt steak and short ribs, along with Mexican rice, black bean and corn salsa, and grilled zucchini.

Naturally, we had to record an intro to Good Mythical More!

For dessert, Dan wanted an oatmeal cake he had enjoyed in childhood. I had never made one before, but it all came together. I did broil it a little at the end, but I was concerned about the sheer amount of sugar on the topping, so I didn’t leave it in for long.

I also added some pixel hearts. For fun! Dan loved it and said this was the exact cake he remembered from his childhood.

Over all, a great day to celebrate a great man. Love you, baby.
