Okay, you might be wondering, who is Star? What is Star? What makes Star tick? Why is Star even studying culinary arts?
All of these are great questions.
Let’s start with a brief bio that may or may not be relevant. I will try to stay on topic: I currently hold two bachelor’s degrees (one in English, one in Business Administration), I work full-time in my field as a documentation specialist, and I’m not looking to switch careers. I realize a lot of people find this odd, but when I say I am a lifelong learner, I am not playing around.
I am a party hostess and I also just want to know how to be a better cook. I feel like I have gotten to a certain point with my cooking and baking and I can’t seem to move past it no matter how many recipes I look at or YouTube videos I watch.
Not to mention, I am missing some background fundamentals in cooking and baking. While a lot of people watched their parents or their grandparents or some relative in the kitchen, I didn’t have anyone remotely close like that who was a good cook. So some of the things a lot of people learned when they were small children were things I learned in my 20s or sometimes, not at all.
Also, I already know I do really well in an academic environment and I am looking forward to being able to really break though the stalemate I have been at for so long and be able to get the footing I need to continue learning on my own. And yes, I am also in an incredibly privileged position where shelling out for college classes is not an impediment to this whole endeavour.
This is it. This is my deal. Now let’s see what I can get up to!
